Using images in portfolio

When I do a shoot for my clients, do I need express permission from them in

order to use the images in my portfolio, for example in an online gallery? If

so, what kind of legalese should I include in the contract?

I can only speak about norwegian laws, but from what I recall a photographer is free to promote his services with the pictures he or she have taken, without a release form. The law where you live might be different.

 

I would recommend you get one anyhow as a courtesy to the subjects. I know I do. I also respect the clients wishes if they doesn't want to have their picture featured in my online/offline portfolio.

In my contract it states I can use the photos in advertising. That pretty much covers it for me.

I'm the same as Amanda...it states in my contract that I can use images from the weddings I shoot in my portfolio and for promotional use.
