Digilux 2

Recommended Posts

I have recently purchased a Leica Digilux 2 camera, and looking for any

suitable software for the Macintosh computer (Macbook), mostly for downloading

images from the camera etc. The camera came with some very basic software

(It's a bit out of date)just wondering if anyone has had any experiance with

this camera, and Mac's can assist?

Congratulations on your new camera. I've been very pleased overall with the way my D2 has performed for me. I use a 15" powerbook G4 (1st generation, mac OSX 10.4) and the camera works great right out of the box.

I had some trouble initially getting Leica USB Remote, an application that allows you to remotely control the camera from your computer and save images to your computer's hard drive. The trick for me was to trash the Leica preferences in your computer's user preferences.

As far as the application to download photos, iPhoto will be fine for file importing and management. Don't waste your time trying to make any photo adjustments with iPhoto, the tools aren't nearly as effective as Photoshop. Good luck and enjoy your camera.

A great camera. A friend took some pictures with mine at his son's party and downloaded them onto his Mac laptop without doing anything that I could see other than plugging in the cable I gave him. I didn't actually see him plug it in but but I don't think he had any other cables. He certainly didn't remove the card.

I've been very pleased with the Digilux 2 that I've had for three years. I just plug the camera into a Mac or a PC, so the 2 GB card hardly ever comes out of the camera. I've found the Leica software handy for making stop-motion movies and doing time-lapse (I've just realised that I've only done that on a PC, never with my Mac).

There's a Heliopan filter adapter and lens hood that is good for portraits etc. It can be seen in the frame at lens settings less than about 75 mm equiv.

Here's one of the first pictures I took with it, the day I got it. It is so easy to use.
