steve_levine
I cleaned my nice zoom lens today, and placed the cap on it for a few hours. When I removed the cap, the lens was coated with a fine layer of dust. Upon further examination this was the culprit.<div></div>
mjt
hi Steve ... i really have to ask ... "you've never thought of this before?" i mean, consider what you do with the lens cap when it comes off. personally, i put it in the back-left pocket ... but i certainly don't trust it when i take it back out, so i blow it off before placing it back on the front of the lens. then, when i return home, or to the shop, i clean all lens caps, along with the rest of the equipment. regards, michael

jimlarson
Yeah, it needs a cleaning, but it sure looks well used. Good for you!
ramk72
More importantly, clean the back caps well too - they are sometimes the source of the sensor dust. Back cap dust -> gets on the back elements -> gets on the sensor when mounted...
