stu dall
I have recently bought the above for my existing Lee filter kit, and was wondering if anyone can help me with my vignetting concerns. I currently have my existing holder set up with 2 filter slots, and I have the Polarizer ring attached to the front of it at all times. I propose to attach just 1 filter slot to the additional holder, which will obviously be attached to the lens first. I shoot mainly large format, and am particularly concerned about vignetting with my 90mm and 75mm lenses. The polarizer I use is the Heliopan, which I believe is slimmer than the Lee polarizer. abrepsom1
Do you use a wide angle adaptor ring?
stu dall
Yes, on both the 75mm and 90mm.
big toys are better
The Lee filters are 100mm if I recall correctly, so vignetting ought not be a problem for your lenses unless it is mounted too far away from the front element. That is why the question about a specialty "wide-angle" (thin) type adapter ring was asked. There are also mounting systems that hold the filter against the lens, adding a bit more coverage. Any vignetting if properly mounted may just reflect the end of the useful range of the lens.
rob_tucher3
I have never gotten vignetting even with my 72, though I never use more than one filter and removed the extra slots, and of course use the wide angle adapters or a special one for the 72. Too much movement coupled with the filter and adapter out front may be the culprit, as R Hofland stated. Just look for the corners through the lens/filter and make sure you see them before shooting.
