rob_smith11
Hi all. I am extremely new to photography, but have well and truly got the bug. I recently bought a Samsung GX-1L DSLR (to the untrained eye, very impressed with the results!). I am looking to take my photos onto a new level now, and would love to create close up images of various subjects, similar to many I have seen on this site. Could anyone please point me in the direction of a suitable lens? I understand my camera is compatible with most Pentax mounts, but I am really struggling to understand exactly which ones will fit! Apologies for the rookie question, but any suggestions or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Rob
sandra_schaffer
Before you take another step (or spend any more money) go to the Macro Photography tutorial on this site. After you read thru that, then start your lens, extensions etc. quest. Best to know where you are going before buying the ticket to get there! art_haykin
The camera is designed to accept Pentax DSLR lenses or KAF and KAF2 mounts. Any that will fit should work, and the dealer should know which macros are available.
j_smith6
You need a flash. What magnification would you like to get? Read about diffraction.
daveish182
Any K mount lens will fit your SLR with some restrictions on metering, if your'e after a manual focus lens then I'd advise choosing KA mount though because you can use it without any problems with metering (not that it's much of a problem with standard K mount, google "k mount pentax digital" or look at the Pentax forum and you'll probably get some info on how it works)which has electrical contacts and an A setting on the aperture ring. You can also add a close-up filter to your lens to get closer or reverse mount lenses (you'll need reverse adapter K or a copy of it with the right thread for your lens)I've attached a sample of a picture taken with a 28mm lens reversed on a Pentax *ist DL.I've no specific recomendations as to lenses but would suggest you post your question in the Pentax forum where I'd have thought there are plenty of people who could recommend lenses to you.<div></div>
