todd_smith9
Hi I am very new to this so this is probably going to sound like a very dumb question but here it goes. We are going to take team and individual pictures for our local baseball league. I was wondering what is the best lens and settings to use on the D-70? The pictures are going to be taken outside on the baseball fields. I have the Nikon D-70 with an AF-S 18-70mm f3.5-4.5G lens and my friend has a Nikon D-70 with a AF 80-200 f2.8D lens. alexey berezin
AF 80-200 f2.8D is a great fast lens. It is good for sports.
bruce_margolis
Absolutely, use the 80-200. It is a great lens. Also use a tripod when possible. I am not sure about the settings on the D70 but I am sure they offer some kind of 'sports' setting. Spend a little time and review your manual. Between you and your friend, you will figure out the best settings to use. If you have some time, go to the site and try some test pictures with different settings. You will come up with what works best for you.
nanette
18-70mm for group shots, ISO200, set your WB accordingly (sunny, shade or custom) 80-200mm for individual shots (are these just head shots, full length or 3/4?), if it's full length, you could probably get away with using the 18-70mm. Again ISO200 and set your WB accordingly. Depending on your light, you might want to use some fill flash (don't use the pop-up flash). If you're shooting some action, then I would use the 80-200mm.
