________1
Could someone tell me how difficult it is to come by used C400 lens boards? I've looked on ebay but the search only seems to return later model boards. The particular lens I'm looking at has a Copal 0 shutter. If anyone has an extra board they want to sell please contact me. nanette
My BF shoots LF and he just had a Calumet board made for ~$25 CDN which was basically a stencil of the lens board that came with the camera. I think he just went to a metal shop, as he too couldn't find a lens board to buy. His lens fits in perfect.
mark_sampson
They may still be available new from Calumet, or SK Grimes. Also, they are 4" square and many boards meant for other cameras will fit, with a bit of fiddling. Or try Midwest Photo Exchange for used ones. jeff bishop
I made a bunch of boards for my Graflex 4x5 cameras. I got my Calumet with no lens or lensboards. I adjusted it's springs a little bit and it now takes my homemade Graflex boards (and lenses as well). A 1/4" sheet of Luan Plywood (about $6), a table saw and a router should give you far more lens boards than you could use in 4 lifetimes.
big toys are better
Mr. Bishop wins the prize! While a true Calumet or Orbit board is more than just a flat piece of material, I have all sorts of 4x4 boards that still nicely fit my Orbit and all of my other 4x4 adapter boards for other units. Just pay close attention to the details when routing (or machining if using metal) out the flange.
