c_p_goerz
Hey there, I picked up a nice old Focomat 1 today and the baseboard has a series of grooves in it, what are they for? As a follow up question...the enlarger came with its seemingly original easel which is a chunky 8x10 two bladed affair, does this 'clamp' down on the main baseboard in some manner? I can't for the life of me see how it can since there is nothing to clamp onto on the easel...anyone out there have any ideas? Thanks for any help!! ronald_moravec1
It has been a long time, but I will tell you what I remember. There is a lever on the right side of the base, pull or push it to lower a metal dovetale that fits into the dovetale groves in the botton of the easel. I remember raising the metal piece and sliding the left side of easel over the metal piece to get the easel to engage the clamp mechanism. You can then move it over the base to all useable positions. When it gets to the proper place, tighten the clamp with the arm on the right side. Your specimine may have missing parts so beware.
c_p_goerz
I was afraid of that, the easel I have has no grooves on the underside, its smooth. I think its not the right model for this enlarger. Thanks for your help though!
