louisb1
Sorry if this question has been asked before but I'd consider a 5D as a second camera but my main interest is a wide angle prime, e.g. 21, 24 or max 28. I've heard that the edge definition can be a problem with the full frame sensor. Is this really the case? I'd be interested in any views on primes, or wide zooms. jayhai
I've heard the best bet is 16-35mm, but if i had to go with a wide prime the 24 1.4 seems the best.

lotsawa
Canon just announced a new version of the 16-35/2.8L.
sf_photo1
You did not mention any budget. Also you did not mention needing as wide as 16mm, only 12mm. The 16-35 is super but of course at a price. Another to consider is the 20-35f2.8L, should be half the price of a 16-35 and offers good picture quality. Ratings at Photodo are comparable. ref: http://www.photodo.com/products.html?manuid=1&name=Canon hope this helps Andrew in SF
russ_savage
the 16-35 is decent.. the new one.. probably slightly better... but honestly.. they're still zooms.. i use an olympus 18mm 3.5 and a zeiss 28mm... the oly beat my 16-35 in almost every area. especially barrel distortion and corner sharpness. i sold that.. it was my only zoom.
