anthonygeo
Im new to the slr cameras so yeah I am kinda going backwards. Anyone else using this older camera?
zane1664879013
The P3 is a 1980s camera, so it's off-topic here. You'll probably find more action in the Pentax forum.
ralf_j.
I use a P3 and it is a pretty basic well built camera. Mine is overexposing by two stops so I have to compensate for that. Enjoy it.
supapong_chan
Hi Anthony, I got one and it is still going strong. It is rugged, yet light. One of the drawback is lack of ISO setting override. I love the ease of focusing of the screen and DOF preview lever is a joy to use.
john carter
I have one from new. And have used in constantly since the 80's. The ISO override is the only thing wrong. It is so small that you wonder what the other camera companies were doing at this time. Except for the larger lenses, it is just a little bigger than a rangefinder. anthonygeo
Whoa didnt expect anymore responses. Mine seems to be overexposing as well. I may try to compensate as well cause its really annoying. Do any of you have blur issues when not using a tripod? It really is a nice camera. Im going to sound like such a noob about this but when I see the numbers flashing inside the viewfinder I adjust up top and still get wacky exposures. Can someone explain the A-KA on the macro lens? Does it have something to do with distance (I assume).
anthonygeo
Oh and is it silly to think of using this camera professionally?
arctic corsair
Use it professionally? Well, if you have the skill and some high quality lenses that are sharp enough for the job in hand then I guess you could use it professionally. Personally, as much as I like the P3 (or P30 as it is here in europe) I don't think it could stand up to the rigours of professional usage. I have two and prefer to use a K1000 (or similar) when the going is tough. Really, only the Pentax KX/MX and the LX were regarded as professional camera bodies. I think a few of the more vintage Spotmatics saw professional 'action' in Vietam.
