Post-1994 (over 3,600,000 ser#) 50/2.8 elmar, but w. focus tab?

Aside from the special edition 50/2.8 elmar that was made for the M6J, does

anyone know whether Leica made any 50/2.8 elmars after 1994 (serial number would

be above 3,600,000) with the new/current optical formulation and coatings, but

which had the focusing tab and dual scale? As near as I can tell, it appears

that all of the post '94 50/2.8 elmars were like the current model, which does

not have a focusing tab. Of course, if there were an orphan M6J lens around

(little chance of that I am sure), that would be great.

 

Sherry Krauter actually had an M6J presentation case and a lens that was from

that period, but it's gone now. Would like to find a case, too if any of you

have seen one somewhere (I have googled to no avail).

The current 50mm Elmar never had an infinity lock/focus lever. It has an extremely short-throw focusing mechanism and is not normally at all stiff, plus it's ribbed at the outside. I've used that lens, just the friction with one finger is enough to focus it quickly.

I believe thats a 'no'. The M6J elmar has it's own product code and was limited ed. If you really want a focusing tab on a current 50 elmar check with Shrry or DAG Camera if one can be retrofitted.

A 50mm f3.5 collapsible heliar or a 50mm f2 collapsible heliar (prototype had a focusing knob) from Cameraquest.
