Rebel XT AF Only focuses to Right of photo. + 580ex?

I am using the rebel xt with a 580ex speedlite, and when i have my camera on

auto focus, it will only focus on the very right auto focus dot. Anyone have

any idea if this is a user error on my part, or it if is a problem with the camera?

 

Also, I have a speedlite 580ex that blinks constantly while I am shooting with

it, I have already tried pushing in the wide angle as well as the catchlight,

and it still blinks.

 

Any help on either subject would be appreciated :)

I suspect that you have accidentall selected that single AF point using the AF opint selection mode, rather than it being stuck on it. I don't have a 350 but the manual will reveal all if you look under "AF point selection"...

 

I do have a 580EX, though... what is blinking? The flash ready light, or something on the display? Or do you mean that the flash itself is firing?

Which focus zone did you select? I'm assuming you know you can select which one the camera uses?

 

What on the 580EX blinks? The red light on the back? The LCD display? The main flash?

Push the right most button at the back and turn the dial, you should be able to select the fucos point while looking at the VF.

Have you accidentally set your 580EX to act as a wireless master? See the section of the manual about wireless E-TTL to see whether it doesn't explain the behaviour you observe - and also how to re-set it to ordinary E-TTL operation.
