elizabeth_f1
I am searching for a canon 2.8, 17-55 mm lens for my 20D. Does anyone have any input on the differences between the import vs. usa lenses? Thanks!
morthcam
See what <a href="http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=helpcenter.jsp&A=getpage&Q=HelpCenter/USGrey.jsp" target="_blank">B&H has to say</a> on the topic.
PuppyDigs
There are exactly zero differences between official Canon USA import and gray market import: same lens made in the same factory. However there will not be a Canon USA warranty card and no rebate (not available on this lens at this time anyway). No biggie as Canon warranty service only requires the original receipt. elizabeth_f1
Does anyone have a website where I can get a good deal for the lens? I've checked B&H, where else do you think I should look? Should I even consider a nice second hand lens? Appreciate the input!
rogernoel
I bought this lens from B & H last month. I chose the USA version, $20 more, but for what it cost, I didn't figure it was that much. Pop Photography magazine has a detailed explanation of the difference, but it looks like it is what Puppy Face has said.
PuppyDigs
Amazon.com has a good deal with free shipping. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
beaglefur
http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=19432409&search=canon+17-55mm&op[]=page,1891,1 Put your zip code in and it even figures shipping for you, so you can base your selection on total cost. Also, they usually only list reputable dealers.
marknagel
Why not stick with BH? Good reputation, why risk $1k on a scam to save $20. m
morthcam
Check out the <a href="http://www.photo.net/neighbor/opc.tcl?category_id=0" target="_blank">Photo.net Neighbor Section</a> before you buy -- B&H may not look like the cheapest, and in the end it may not be the absolute cheapest, but you don't have to worry about getting scammed from B&H.
