kio500
I know it's probably best to name your company after yourself, ie "John Smith Photography", but with my name, it's just not possible! "Elizabeth Kiourtzidis Photography" does not roll off the tongue. And "Images by Elizabeth" just doesn't appeal to me. So, using my mother's maiden name I came up with a company name for myself. I also came up with my own logo, as I once did graphic design. SO, before I tell you the name, I'm just curious how hard it is to tell what the graphic in my logo is WITHOUT seeing the name. I will post the whole logo (which includes the name of course) after a couple of responses. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Elizabeth<div></div>
tana_minnick
It looks like a peacock feather.

darice michelle
same answer. If you are going to use a peacock for your logo, I wouldn't box it. It doesn't look right boxed.

pico
I see the malevolent encroachment of a billion commies crawling under the planet like fire beetles, spured on by the jackals under the all-seeing-eye of the illuminati who tainted our natural bodily fluids with flouride. You should be ashamed of putting such hideous material online. Peacock.
zofia
Peacock feather. First thing that came to mind too.
stephen dohring
I thought a tulip or some kind of flower. Not that I can come up with a better logo but I don't like it, looks like one of those $99.00 graphic logos you buy on the web. Maybe a different color scheme? kio500
Pico - nice answer:) Steve - Ouch! Well you were the only one to guess wrong... :) Maybe you'll like it better with the text? Thanks for all the guesses! My mother's maiden name is Paauwe which means "peacock" in Dutch. I know it might seem wrong to "box in" a beautiful feather, but squares are so much easier to work with when applying your logo to business cards, etc. Here is the complete logo along with my first try. The awkward shape was a problem with hte first one.<div></div>
roxyandkaidotcom
Looks like generic clip art. Sorry, but I gotta say I'm not crazy about it. I think you should design something simple, clean ... not so ... feathery, maybe. :( Good luck!
gary evans
I was going to guess blue Pac-Man breaking the sound barrier...
gina_marie1
If the 2nd question is WHICH of the 2 preferred (besides the original question asked)...I like the 2nd design but don't like the vertical layout of text. And yes...the first instantly came off as peacock feather.
nikonboy
I really like the second. You could easily use that on a business card down the right side - would be different. I agree with you on coming up with a different name other then using your name - that is overdone IMHO. I have done that myself.
kio500
Man dang, ya'll are a tough crowd! Well, I'm not happy with the colors, I think maybe different colors would help change the "generic" feel. I'll try a few things and post again. Thanks for the feedback! timberwulf
You're a photographer. Why not get a peacock feather, light it really nicely to bring out its natural colors, and then stylize the photograph to make the logo? :) I also thought peacock right off the bat. kio500
Colors any better? Now I like the last one (4), but does it still say "peacock" to you? Oh, and I don't want to work with a raster image for my logo, I would rather use vector art, that is one reason I'm not using a real feather. So, which one ya like?<div></div>
stephen dohring
Oh I like the last one a lot and font is really cool on all. How much to make me something like number 4?
rickvandenberg
I prefer the first set with the peacock in blue and "photography" in green. Two colours, easy to print. Don't forget about the cost of printing stationary. It's neat, clean and would fit nicely going down the margin on letterhead. Your graphic design skills are excellent. roxyandkaidotcom
I really like the first set - 2nd logo (the vertical one).

pico
Nice work. You can actually use two. I'd go for #1, and rework #4 a little for more conspicuous feathers. Ain't no way that's generic clip art, either.
cariad
Well, it seems I am nuts or something, but I like all the ones you posted except 2 in the last batch. I think each has it's own charm and besides like anything else in this world.........beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Elizabeth.......maybe you were just unlucky and all the ones thatdid not care for the boxed feather answered, but remember, there are just as many out there that would love it :)
grant g
Not number 2... 1 or 3, maybe rework 4?
