marc_brenner
I'm a lucky man. My girlfriend has bought me a Sigma 70mm 2.8 lens for my birthday. However, I already own a Canon 24-70 2.8 and a Canon 70-200 2.8. I can exchange the lens for another, or perhaps for the Elinchrom basic lighting kit. So, here's the thing. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?! PuppyDigs
Keep the girlfriend and tell her you'd like a new L lens every year. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
mark u
How about using it to shoot macros of diamond engagement rings? I wouldn't want to try that with either of your other lenses.
marek_fogiel
Before you trade this lens for something else, take a few shots of your girlfriend with it... Many times in the past I got amazed by the difference between a zoom and a prime, especially when using small apertures, so give it a try... i.larner
Chech here for review of 70mm http://www.ephotozine.com/equipment/tests/testdetail.cfm?test_id=483 Seems to be a good lens. If you do not own Macro why not keep it?

WM
Keep the lens and have fun shooting Macro with it. From my experience with Sigma, they make pretty good primes and I have always been happy with it, even though I use the Canon 24-105L and 70-200IS. Their primes are nice. But more importantly, like Mark U said above, shoot some engagement rings with it.....and let her see if the lens is sharp enough to see if the diamond is a VS or VVS ! catalin soare
Keep it, it is a gift and you might get better results than you expect. Regards
ilkka
It is quite a lot smaller and lighter than your other two lenses as well. And everyone needs a macro.
terry_evans3
And, everyone needs a prime.
david_lau3
According to the test from Popular Photography this is one of the best macro lens, even better than the Canon 50 or 100mm macro. I would suggest you keep it for fun macro shots.
William Michael
More votes for the same: Keep the lens and use the lens it is not doubling up on your cache of lenses, with use it will expand your expeiences. No girlfriend advice; far too technical for me. WW
