gary_v
Hello, Is there anyone here who knows what are the differences if any, between the less expensive 22" speedotron beauty dish vs. the mola demi 22" beauty dish? Which one gives a more pleasing light quality? Thank you to all who answer. Gary
peter_hart
There has been little written about the Mola on this forum or elsewhere on the net. Personally I shoot Elinchrom and am interested in the demi and the setti as I have become enamoured with harder light on my subjects-I have the 17 inch dish and it's OK but only for smaller subjects up close. The only thing of any value I can add here is that the Speedo has a grid and the Mola doesn't (I asked them myself). My colleague has a Profoto dish with a grid and I really like that (but can't afford to switch systems let alone go profoto...damn!) Peter
gary_v
Thank you Peter, You reminded me of something that I had completely forgoten about. The speedotron does accept a grid; and from what I have heard, placing the grid over the lightsox produces a beautiful concetrated softlight on the subject. This helps my decision. Thanks. phillipmarcovallentin
Talking about 22" BDs, you may also wanna check out this:
http://www.kaceyenterprises.com/
As opposed to the Mola, which is made of metal, the Kacey BD is made of plastic,
but unless you have your modelling lights constantly on at full power,
I wonder that's gonna be a problem with a head with build-in fan ?

Best of luck ;-)

Marco/
