ivan_dzo
Was using my SQa last night with the ps 150mm f4 on the front. Suddenly the shutter failed to fire and then locked up. Taking off the film back and winding on cured it for a shot or two but then it recurred. Initially I replaced the battery, then the back then the body! No joy, til I replaced the lens. Other lenses are fine so it seems its a problem with my 150mm. I gather that shutter faults lead to a new Seiko shutter being installed which is probably more costly than the lens is worth. When it fires it is fine however. So does anybody have any other ideas? I'm in the UK so please don't suggest some great bloke in Utah. Thanks for replies in advance. john_papandreou
Before sending it in for repair try cleaning the contacts on the lense and the body, I have seen this on my ETRS and that fixed it.
ivan_dzo
John, thanks for this. I did have a look at the contacts on lens and body which look fine, but formally cleaning them is certainly worth a go.
ray_kinsella1
Chief it's the leaf shutter mechanism, it becomes loose with use and simply needs to fixed, unfortunately as you said you are in the uk, so all i can suggest is you look for a repair shop locally. There are plenty of repair shops in the US and the dollar is week.
