stephen_lumsden
Hi Does anyone have experience of using the duonar on bay-1. I am told it vignets badly but I would intend using it occasionally for landscape work on a tripod with the lens stopped down, so I reckon the bad side effects may be limited and the IQ somewhat acceptible. I have 2 Rolleiflexes and 124G already and am unwilling to change... Any ideas, Stephen
richard_laepple
As far as I know the Duonar covers only a 4x4 area of the film, like a Baby Rolleiflex. No advantages IMO because the films we have today are sharp enough to make crops.
david a.
Stephen, Don't bother. The Duonar covers an area roughly equivalent to a 35mm film frame. It also produces a circular image on the film. So, unless you are going to use it with a Rolleikin, you are _not_ going to be happy when you see half of that 6x6 frame come out blank. So, don't do it. I have one that is gathering dust right now.
david a.
Just to try and make myself a little more clear. The image circle created by the Duonar will have a diameter roughly equivalent to the long side of a 35mm frame (36mm). Does that make it more clear? richard_laepple
I've found that the circle is 43mm.
david a.
Ok. So I measured my negatives and you are correct. I exaggerated. I apologize. At f22 the circle is about 43 or 44mm. At f11 it is slightly larger and the edge is less distinct. If I had a scanner I would provide an example. Still, too much space left over for my liking.
