godfrey
The Konica Minolta 5D and 7D, as well as the Sony A100, all use the Minolta AF lens mount. Godfrey

carbon_dragon
Yes, but there is a 1.5x effective lens crop (you probably know this). In case you don't this means that if you have a 50mm lens, on the 5D or 7D you get effectively a 75mm lens. So if you have a 35-105 zoom it's effectively a 50-155 or so. I hate this myself because there isn't a good 35mm prime widely available for the 5D and 7D. But the kit lens that comes with the 5D isn't the fastest, but it's a great little sharp lightweight lens. james_thorn
You guys sound like you are on top of it. I have a Maxxum 7D and recently bought a Kimunor 500mm manual lens. When I attach it to my camera it says that there is no lens attached even though it is and I can see fine through the viewfined. I have tried everything I know how to do to get it to work. Any suggestions?
john_sparks1
I have a 7D. I can't remember the setting (you may have to look it up in the manual), but there is an option to allow the shutter to fire with no lens attached. You need to set this to work with oddball lenses like your 500mm.
