ldallara
So I was only able to find the cable at several ripoff camera shops , it's current selling for $189.00 plus shipping. Ebay auctions are also running about $187.00 It look like in Januray a offshore company will start producing them at an unknown cost, but looks like a nice product, it will have custom connectors for each GPS reciever. Here's the link, email them if interested. http://www.pc-mobile.net/nikongps.htm Nikon seems to be a sleep.. cabophoto
Lou, I have a cable that I bought eight years ago from a South-Africen company; it was intended to connect an N90s to an RS-232 port. I tried to connect my Garmin eTrex GPS to a D200 with it - works great ! I remember it was around 50 USD back then. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the company. cabophoto
A bit of searching with Google pointed me to their website: http://www.cocoon-creations.com/COCOON-Home.shtml Hope this helps Carsten
cabophoto
Unfortunately they seem to have raised their prices a bit and are now in the same ballpark as the original Nikon cable... Carsten
wisp
You can make your own (that's what I am doing) - allows you to customize the connector, the length of the cable, the mount for the GPS (mine will be an old hotshoe bracket from an SB-10). I purchased an MC-23 from B&H for $65 (it gives me two ends - one will be a remote cable release for my dad) and as I have a Holux GPSlim236, will be using a USB mini-B for the GPS end. Check out hackaday.com or just google - you do need to do a little soldering to add the serial converter though, so if that's not your bag it might be better to wait. I'll post mine when I have it finished - I am hoping to complete it this weekend.
ldallara
Well hi Josh and thanks everybody for the reply. Yes; I'm a retired PCB design engrg and know how to solder, but was worried about blowing up my D200... lol thou I wouldn't mind reverse engrg a MC-35 and build my own. Please let me know how your works out.. Lou Dallara
ldallara
BTW Guys, The Garmin mounting bracket for the dashboard is plastic and fit the hot shoe nicely, un-like the Velcro kludge that Red Hen uses.

RCRogers
www.central-camera.com has the MC-35 for $97.95USD.
ldallara
PC-Moble has added pricing into to there MC-35 custom cable, for the Garmin it $53.00. Looks like great design, it does away with the GPS cable and is all in one. It cleans up the cable mess you have when hooking a MC-35 to a GPS. http://www.pc-mobile.net/nikongps.htm
anthony_tubbs
Not really an answer but according to the site only a serial connection works, so my question is will a serial to USB converter work so that the USB GPS models work also.
