colin_anderson
I was wondering if they make any non-nikon lenses that have an internal focus motor that would be compatable with the new Nikon D40? I'm looking for a zoom telephoto lens. I appreciate any help. Thank you
richard_laepple
I'd consider the Nikkor 55-200 AF-S DX.
frank_skomial
Yes, third party vendors do make lenses with internal focusing motors. (Innovatine names are "silent motor", "high Speed Motor", etc. - just to catch your attention). Some of those lenses did not work well with D200 when it arrived - while worked OK with D70, and required adjustements by the lens vendor to make them work with D200. Since D40 is a new camera, I suggest to try or make sure that the lens you have in mind would work with D40. Pick your lens of choice, and then ask very specific question about the lens, as there may not be a universal answer for all lenses with internal motors.
