extension tubes won't... come... off!

I cannot for the life of me get the extension tubes to get off of my lens! I

bought the tubes off of ebay and when i just couldn't get them off, i e-mailed

the seller and asked for a solution. His response? WD40 it! I would like to

avoid getting WD40 near my lens and so i come to you.

its just the last ring, the connector ring, that just won't get off. I somehow

mistakenly got it off once and then stupidly, in wonder about how i had managed

it, put it right back on. and now, it's stuck again.

It's not even a specific make, as i somehow managed to buy from a japanese label

and the box is all japanese with no instructions. loooobely. help me?

Depending on the connection a straightened paperclip is small enough to get in there and

give the locking pin a little *push* to *help* unlock it. All depends on the lens if there's a

gap or

not.

You may want to post what camera & lens for others.

Don't force anything.

Good luck,

Jim

I had a cheap extension tube stick on a Nikon once. Check the pin, which is supposed to be retracted by a button, and see if it's retracting. some of these depend only on a spring. You may have to reach in from the side with a dental pick or something to push that pin back. It might help to wiggle it back and forth while pushing the button to see if unloading the pin will allow it to retract.

Sidney,

The Nikon god's have not been kind to you lately! ;-)

If you do manage to get the bloody cheap tube dismounted (sorry - can't offer any suggestions other that what's already above), do yourself a favor and toss it, then pick up a used PK-11a, PK-12 or PK-13 tube from eBay. Yes, they will cost considerably more than a cheap no-name tube made god-knows-where, but they are WORTH IT. No vignetting, perfect mechanical mating (both the mount and stop-down linkages) with your Nikon lenses, and a substantial high quality rigid build.

Great "advice" from that seller (I'm being sarcastic). As if WD-40 is the solution for an (obviously) out of tolerance piece of s### - don't do it. :-(

Good luck!
