david_galvin
Just getting an XT, but I've heard they have the Pre-Flash Stutterred eye reduction, but I'm hoping I can use a hot Shoe adpter w/PCPlug like on my Rebel FIlm Cameras, Can't afford to buy new Strobeswith the hit on this XT Kit, anyone have any experience with this issue? Thanks David G
mark u
You were at more risk using your Vivitars on your film Rebels, since they are only supposed to tolerate a hotshoe voltage of 6V, whereas the XT can tolerate 250V. Vivitar models have a wide range of hotshoe voltages, but if yours didn't fry your film bodies they will work fine with your new DSLR.
rick_gerbehy1
Wein Safe-Sync Hot Shoe to Hot Shoe High Voltage Sync Regulator (SSHSHS) I use this with the digital rebel and rebel xt on profix monolights.
robert lee
"Just getting an XT, but I've heard they have the Pre-Flash Stutter red eye reductio..." It won't be supported by the Vivitar, but it won't be an issue either. The flash head is far above the lens axis that you shouldn't get red eye at all. John Crowe
The voltage across the foot of the Vivitar 5600 is 6V and I use it on my Canon 10D with no problems, if that helps. Good luck.
david_galvin
Thanks everyone for great help, I'm using the vivitar 285's which are a fantastic 8 way variable power strobe, hand held w/pc cord from the hot foot-adapter extension w/pc plug and talked to Canon and they said it should work too, and I am betting it will work also. just wondering why canon didn't put pc outlet on the XT, suppose it is to sell the bigger cameras-all about Marketing I suppose. regards and best of Health David G
