bjornholland
Hi, I've done a bit of research on this. Just wondering if I get it all right... With a ST-E2 and a recent flash (550EX), can I... - flash remotely with full E-TTL support (even with off-camera flash bounced against a ceiling, or a lumiquest attached, i.e. the flash head not on standard position) - control the flash ratio from my camera/ST-E2 - flash remotely with full High Speed Sync Thank you, B. thierry nguyen cuu - nomad
I have 2 580EX and when using one as master and the other as slave, you can have full control of the slave from the master. For more infos about the ST-E2 functionalities and control: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=product.jsp&A=kitInfo&Q=&sku=164264&is=REG According to BHphotovideo.com you can do all from your questions above. cham
i have an st-e2 and a 580ex as well as a 550ex... and the answer is yes you can although the flash ratio control is only for A and B channels it doesn't support anything else... but it works really well and is really useful in lowlight situations because of the AF assist light
eosdoc

Whether you get remote E-TTL or E-TTL II depends on the camera body you use.
Flash ratio implies more than one light source. You can use
Exposure Compensation
and
Flash Exposure Compensation
to balance flash and ambient light, provided that your camera body supports this. Balancing light from multiple Speedlites can be achieved reliably with manual fixed-power settings. You could use auto-power settings but only with some EOS camera bodies.
Remote High Speed Sync is possible, but not second curtain sync. At least, not easily.
Refer to:
http://eosdoc.com/manuals?q=ETTLDx
http://eosdoc.com/manuals?q=ETTLRx
