mlenzi
Hi: A friend of mine who shoots with a Canon 5D can view his images on the camera LCD in grayscale mode. It is not obviously crucial that I have this option but it sure would be nice sometimes. Does anyone know if the D200 has this option? I know the D2Hs(the camera I have) does not. Thanks for any info from you D200 users. Michael
richard_cochran
I don't believe there's a way to get the LCD to display color photos in greyscale. <p> There IS an option to take your photos in B&W. If you are taking your photos in B&W, then those B&W photos show up in greyscale on the monitor, naturally.
cabophoto
Michael, I shoot RAW on the D200 but set the color mode to B&W when I want to see the pictures displayed in B&W on the LCD. The color mode has no effect on the actual RAW data, but the embedded JPG (and consequently what the LCD shows) will be B&W. jeffrey moore
"I don't believe there's a way to get the LCD to display color photos in greyscale." Yep, there is. In the "shooting" menu, and under "optimize image," select "B/W Mode." And as Carsten stated, the raw data is unaffected. I find this an effective technique in pre-visualizing a b/w image.
