dexdee
Hello. Can anyone tell me which is the best objective for the Canon EOS 400D. I shot portraits and landscape. Which is the best choice depending on quality and price. Thanks, DDD

robert lee
"I shot portraits and landscape." This is a bit broad. Since you asked about a lower end Canon body, I assume funds are at issue. So, keep the kit zoom and use it stopped down at f8 or f11. This'll give you good sharpness for the landscapes. For portraits and such, where you might want nicely blurred backgrounds, get two prime lenses: 50mm f1.8 and 35mm f2. Oh, and get a tripod if you haven't one already, and use it. With the light weight kit above, any cheap $30 unit will do fine.
ryan mcgill - trm photo st
I second the suggestions. If you have a little more money get the 85 1.8. It is a little long for indoors, but fantastic outside. The bokeh is dreamy!
