photomumm
Hello All, I am planning a small excursion to the Nevada City/Grass Valley area of Northern California, and would love some ideas of great scenics for Landscape Photography. I am not much of a hiker, but am working on it, so easy type hikes are okay, but I would not be ready for any major treks into the open wilderness. I am most interested in spots accessible from the area near the junction of Highway 20 and Highway 49. Thanks for any suggestions! Christie:)
bruce levy
Malakoff Diggins near North San Juan has some really eerie landscapes- the result of the old water blasting mining they did. Also, if you stop in any of the local bookstores, they have guides that will direct you to what you are looking for. Make sure you're there for the weekend, the music at Coopers is kick ass. the lone ranger
For hiking, try the South Yuba River State Park. There's a covered bridge there as well. Empire Mine State Park might be a good place to take some pictures in addition to Malakoff Diggins.
www.rwongphoto.com
In the Field
mcgarity
I highly recommend the Confluence of the North and Middle forks of the American River. Its right outside Auburn and is not too far from the locations you mention. Its a gorgeous area with trails that are very easy to get around on.
