hop_phan
I just switch to digital ( EOS 5D ). I have an EOS 1V/HS in near mint condition (only 103 rolls of films through it) + ES-E1 LINK software. Should I keep it or Should I sell it ? I will be sad to se it go but I do not know if I will use it again. I need cash for another lense ( 24-70 /2.8 L OR 24-105 f4 IS ). How much is it worth now ? Thanks for all your opinions. robin_sibson1
I was faced with this dilemma. I had kept my 1V after purchasing a 20D, but once I realised that I was simply no longer using film I sold the 1V and PB-E2 and ES-E1 kit and put the proceeds towards the 10~22, 24~105, and 60/2.8. I'm a user, not a collector.
jay_stone
On eBay, the 1V/HS in excellent condition routinely goes for $600-$650, with limited use and original packaging. You ask a good question - I've struggled with it myself as a 1V/HS owner. I too shoot primarily digital (1dMIIn) but have found it difficult to put my 1V/HS up for sale. While I don't use it much, I find that I do use it from time to time...enough to make it worth keeping, especially considering how relatively little they command open market. If you really 'need' the money and really won't use it, putting it up for sale makes sense. On the other hand, if you don't really need the money and can fund your lens purchase another way or at another time, I would do that...the 1V/HS is an awesome machine and one I'm glad I've decided to keep. Just my opinion, naturally. I hope that helps. Good luck!
cliff_henry
If you shoot much B&W then I'd keep it, which is what I did. Many still think B&W film produces better results that digital B&W. Of course, like everything else digital, that keeps getting better, B&W digital may soon be equal to film.
rokkor fan
Sell the ES-1 software seperately - you will get a good price for it.
eric merrill
I just sold mine a couple weeks ago. $750 for 1vHS in great condition. Won't be long 'til it's been a year since I've used film of any kind. Like somebody else said, I'm a user and not a collector. Didn't take me long to put that money into a new lens. :) Eric
ruslan
Keep it. Evidently, top-notch film equipment is getting more costy now. The end of the film is delayed (posponed):^)Use 1v under harsh conditions - it is more rugged than 5D!
