cliff_robinson
I live in the Washington DC area and I've just been asked by a relative to take portraits of her, her husband and their two God children. The portraits will be taken at their home in digital with strobes/natural light and they've requested individual and group portraits. I'm not sure how and what to charge for this session. Should I charge a fee covering my travel and allow them to select the size and quantity from the proofs or offer a few package selections? Any help and examples of packages would be appreciated. Thanks, Cliff
savagesax
Thats a difficult one to answer; I usually don't charge for relatives. They refer me so much, plus it's family, I have a hard time charging.
jim_doty
When I do portraits of relatives and close friends, I don't charge anything for time or travel. If they want a bunch of prints, I charge them my price for the prints. If they only want a couple of prints, I don't even charge for the prints. michelle a.
I also do not charge relatives... and I give a steep discount on the prints. I don't make money on them.
vatovec
Relatives = no charge. Is that simple!
photomumm
I agree, I charge family only for my cost on prints, but with my fam, I usually end up getting a card and a resturant gift card in the mail a week later, they appreciate the portraits, and we get a dinner out!! Do you have a Pro lab you use? If not may I reccommend mine, I have worked with Fullcolor (in Dallas, but they ship 2 day all over the US) for 5 years and I love them. www.fullcolor.com
