doug_hagerman
Trying to figure out the proper comparison between: M6 with Summilux 35mm wide open, ASA 400 print film, used outside at night, street lighting, versus M8 with Elmarit 24mm (f/2.8), with sensor set at ASA 1600, to get same shutter speed. How will the prints compare?
michael_b._elmer
Is that a fair comparison? M8 with the 35/1.4 would be equally suited for night work at iso 400, although the picture would be cropped in comparison to what you are used to. If the angle of view is important, also the M8 with the 28/2.0 with almost the same angle of view as your present setup would be a resonable solution. Rob F.
Yes, I agree, the 28mm Summicron on an M8 suggests itself as the way to come closest to the 35mm Summilux/M6 combination. You could set the ISO to 800 instead of 1600.
stephen_alesch
the m6 with film would be superior for certain. the m8 is a little noisy at 1600 in fact - alot noisy. at 160 the m8 is very fine and could probably compare. you would be down to tripod times though. if i had some time i would compare and show, but trust me the film would be superior. my new and painfully expensive m8 is not impressive at anything above 160.
