andyjonesphotography
I'm starting out in business taking kids sports photo's. I am considering offering printing onsite and would like some input regarding printer types, makes, models, running costs, etc. thanks, Andy
Ed_Ingold
IMO, dye-sub printers are ideal for this setup. The prints are very durable and fast to produce, and there's no ink to dry up or spill. If you are looking for 4x6, there are several. The lowest media cost is the new Canon Selphy, which is also very portable. Another is Hi-Touch Imaging, who also makes a 5x7 or 6x8 printer. For 8x10 or 8x12, the Kodak 1400 is very good and very reliable. Kodak and Hi-Touch also make high-volume printers ($$$) which print in about 1/4 the time of the standard unit. Standard printing time is 45 seconds to 90 seconds, depending on the printer - completely dry and ready to go. The cost is about $1.50 per 8x10 or the equivalent area.
