gstarene
I see questions from people who can't view RAW or NEF files on their computers. I'm using a Apple Powerbook G4, three or four generations older than the current laptops. With this older computer I can view RAW and NEF files with two (2) different Apple programs that came with the computer. ( iPhoto & Preview ) I just telling you this so you may have some insight for when you set your sights on a new computer.
ky2
Com'on Gene. Do you really think the new machines can't view RAW or NEF files?
bernard_frank
If you can see Raw files even on a contraption like a PC running Windows, you can most certainly see them on a highly refined and technologically advanced device like a recent Mac. I know I can.
gstarene
You missed my point. Apple computers have the inherent ability built in to view RAW. You don't have to go out and acquire software to do so. New or Older Apple's will work with RAW. I was talking to a tech at the Apple store today, telling him of people who where having trouble getting RAW to load in their Photoshop. This tech said if they would download into iPhoto, then open PS and get the image from there, it would work that way. My comments are directed to people who are having troubles dealing with computers.
markwilkins
I have a Mac, and I love it, but just for the record, the current OS version (10.4.5) does not yet support the D200's raw files. D70s, D50, and (I think, please check before relying on it) D2x are fine, though. -- Mark
