Pa-cha
Hello, I want to buy a macro lens for my Rollei 6003. If someone owns the Rollei 90mm f/4 Schneider Apo-Symmar PQS HFT Macro Lens , I will be very interested by all comments and tips about it. Thanks a lot. Regards, P. OCULUS New York
Have you considered the retro/reversing collars that turn Bay VI lenses around for that purpose? Not cheap, but a lot less than that lens, and they maintain all electronic connections. tak_l._poon1
Hi, I have this lens and I have the following comments. 1. it is PQS and therefore if you use it in the studio, you can sync your flash with all shutter speeds 2. it has a symmetrical design, you do not have to invert the lens 3. it has a long helical mount and by itself you can already focus down to a very close distance. (1:2) 4. you don't need the full set of extension tubes. 34 and 67 will be all that is required for continuous focusing down to a field of less than 50mm. (its own helical travel is more than 34 mm) 5. quality of optics is superb. you can also use it as a normal lens. drawbacks: 1. heavy and bulky 2. filter size 95mm 3. slow: f/4 only regards, Tak
wim_van_velzen
After having used a 80 2.8 (or 150 4.0) with extension tubes, I got the chance to buy the 90mm.
These are my experiences:

the 90mm is a great lens
ghe 90mm is a big lens, but not that heavy; I often use it handheld during weddings
in the close-up areas it is really better than the 80 2.8 Schneider with tubes
at infinity it is still a very good lens; the 80 2.8 doesn't seem better
no longer the hassle of using tubes - that is really important for me (esp @ weddings)
filters have to be large - but I was sold a B&W polarizer along with the lens, so no problem for me (don't use filters very often)
this lens is relatively quite inexpensive (compared to other Rollei/Hasselblad lenses that is...)

Hope this helps a bit!
Wim
carl_glover
I have this lens and consider it to be one of the best lenses around. I use it instead of a standard lens and it really does a great all-round job, especially macro.
