Wireless release options for DSLR's

Apart from Canon's own kit, what other third party options are there

for a wireless release system for EOS1DsMK2 and 1DMk2 bodies? By

'other' I mean 'cheaper'. A Pnet search revealed not much and I'm

getting crosseyed looking at Google showing me wireless broadband routers.

There's a Chinese firm which make a cheap wireless remote.

Try searching for Adidt. They make wireless remotes compatible with Canons (including 1D and 1Ds).

Search ebay. I bought a chinese-made release for my 20d at a fraction of the cost of the OEM version. Works fine.

Depends on what range you need, and maybe your DIY skills (and perhaps whether something else might be as well suited to your application).

I have and Adidt...it works great for 10 bucks and I didn't feel bad about getting creative with it. I bought male and female headphone 3 pin plugs and a 25 foot headphone extension cord at radio shack. I then chopped the adidt's cord in half and soldered on the plugs, I can now use the release from over 25 feet away for less then 30 dollars.

Of course, we need an AC adapter here in Europe, but that can easily be found.

Hi John,

 

it took me a while to be able to give you my impressions about the Adidt wireless remote release, because the first one that I received just didn't work! I had to send it back and got a new one today. Now that one really works, even through a wall. I have tested the device on a 20D and on a 1D Mark II N. Considering that it costs less than 1/4 compared to Canon's LC-4, I am very satisfied.
