gib
see the front page of the Washington Post for a slide show of his work, he passed away at age 93, worked for Life 1948-68. He did work for the FSA and OWI as well. His first camera was a Voigtlander Brilliant which he purchased from a pawn shop for $12.50 I have read his memoir, very much worth reading. Great artist. For more information on his FSA and OWI work, go the the Library of Congress web site and type his name in their search box.
vdp
When did Gordon Parks pass away? I found nothing on the Washington Post site as of 3/8/06. He was/is (?) one of the most couragious photographers and one of my favorites.
vdp
I did a search just now on the Washington Post Obit page and there is no listing for Gordon Parks. What gives?

tri-x1
I suspect the announcement came after the Post's deadline, which would have been 2-3 hours before the papers out west.

john falkenstine
Interesting. His 1st camera was a Voigtlander Brilliant. Which happened to be my first camera. Which I still have. And which has not been used for photography since 1961. Time to run some film through it.
