harvey_chao2
I sent my 420EX to the Irvine CA factory repair location with a letter, and samples of what I considered "hot spotting" at shorter focal lengh settings. Although they do not have an RMA system, and counsel you to use a "trackable" shipping service, they very promptly notified me of receipt and evaluation. In my case, although the unit was 2 years old with a one year warranty - I did not experience the problem with a 10D body, but did discover the problem this Christmas when I switched to a full frame body. Not only was I notified of a no cost repair, but I was subsequently notified on the date that it was shipped back to me via 2nd day FedEx. THATs a GOOD service experience! Thank you Canon! harvey_chao2
Actually, I was so impressed by their tracking and notification system that I sort of jumped the gun. The unit is due back Monday.
