david_held1
Hi all. I'm a first time poster to this forum. I'm usually on the Medium Format side, but I have just purchased a Super Ikonta 531/2. Having read all the posts regarding the 531, I'm resigned to the fact that the Albada is as good as it gets with no hope of brightening. Over all, the camera is in excellent shape for its age - just a little paint wear at the hinge and bottom of the door. The rangefinder's wheel is a bit stiff but usable (blister time for the index finger). All in all, I'm amazed at the condition and can't wait to put a roll through it. After dillegently searching online, I really don't feel like paying $20+/- for a manual. Does anyone have a copy available for download. Thanks in advance.Dave Held
daniel_iggers
There is a manual at the Butkus website. A donation of $3 (or maybe more) is suggested. david_held1
Daniel: Thanks for your help. I could'nt find it online. My faith in Photo.net is constantly being renewed. I'll try to load pics soon.
xbow
I sent my Super C to Jurgen (certo6) who did a CLA on it and replaced the viewfinder altogether.... You do not have to live with an unusable finder....
david_held1
John: Actually the finder is starting to loosen by exercising the distance scale by hand. I'm going to wait and see until after I run a few test rolls before it's sent for a CLA. Here in Denver we actually have someone who works on classic cameras and I probably would have him look at it before sending it off out-of-town. One other thing. When I went to the forum this AM, the ad on the side bar was for a digital camera. Quite ironic for a forum specializing in 35+ year old photographic gems. xbow
Local is better, though Jurgen is the best, IMHO. See what he did with mine. The viewfinder was a milky white....<div></div>
xbow
Sorry wrong one...see if you can see better in this one...<div></div>
xbow
This shot was taken with my 531/2. The lens was fairly wide-open at f/4.5 or so. While the image has been cropped, the right edge is the edge of the negative as well. The lens performed pretty well, in my opinion. The film is Fuji Reala 100, C-41 processing, scanned without enhancement by an Epson Pro 4990. I used Photoshop to turn up the lights.....<div></div>
marck mcgill
Isn't actually the RANGEfinder which looks pretty milky?
xbow
Actually neither are milky, both are clear. I see what you are talking about though. The way the shot was taken it makes the rangefinder window look opaque. It's actually almost new looking in real life....
