felix_ing
Hi there, Quick question:Does the selection of the f-stop affect the speed of autofocus?(e.g. using f/16 on a f/2 lens--> will it AF slower?)Or are they independent of each other / same AF speed regardless? Thanks

majid
The iris diaphragm is only stopped down to the selected aperture when the shutter is tripped or you press the depth of field preview. Otherwise the viewfinder would be too dim.
erin.e
The short answer is No!
robin_sibson1
If you are shooting in continuous mode and using AI Servo, the extra time taken to stop the lens down a long way and open it up again affects the shooting rate, and might possibly also affect how successful the AF is in tracking your subject. Other than that, no.
