Please help me undersand how important is it (or not).
Would it be better off buying 10D or 20D? 1D costs more.
How much sensor size difference important (1.6 vs. 1.3), how muchimage quality it impoves?
Also, would anybody sendme couple RAW files made by 1D?
Thanks! herman_hiel
Vladimir, the 1D is made for sport and nature photographers, who need high frames per second (8.5 f/s). The 1D is solidly build and well sealed to protect it from the elements. For people photography you don't need that. You would want a camera with a higher pixelrate (if you want to enlarge your pics). I have a 1D that I use for wildlife and for people, I use my wife's 20D. I can't help you with RAW files, as I shoot jpeg.
eric_chiu2
I am a 1D use for 3 years. Basically, its a professional camera which means it was designed for any kind of shooting. But its true that its specific good for sport for its fast shutter speed. I used it for anything includes protrait, wedding, family pictures... 4mp pixel give me good resolution for 13x19 prints from my i9900 printer after resample in PS. However, it is not enough pixel for group pictures or pictures that you want to keep lots detail after you enlarge to any size bigger than 8x10. For portrait with shallow DOF, its no problem with 4mp. 1.3x crop and 1.6x crop was the biggest reason I bought the 1D. 1.3x for 17mm lens would become 22.1mm but for 1.6X will become 27.2mm which is not acceptable for me. I don't know about you. I tested both 1D and 20D, I just personally think 1D is still way better camera than 20D. For the price of 1D now, its a super deal. I only shoot RAW, however, the files are too big to sent you. Just to let you know, Its no problem with image quality.
yakim_peled1
I have the 1D and apart from its noise above 800, it's great. I am thinking about buying the 350D for use of the 10-22. It could also be the wife's camera. The 1D is by no means meant for her. It's too heavy and too big and she have trouble handling such things.... :-) Happy shooting, Yakim.
