mharris
Now can any of you stop the rain so I can use them? I have my newYashica D loaded and ready to go and I figure rain is probably notthat good for it. Anyone have any good suggestions on films? I was able to get 10 rollsof Foma Classic 100 speed but I noticed alot of brands I've neverheard of. Michael
ben conover
I was thinking the same thing Michael, I will buy film from ebay, maybe some Efke 25 if I can find it, very slow speed and high resolution. Cheers.
rich815
Michael, your subject line made me laugh out loud! You poor soul! Aren't cameras wonderful? As for the rain, I get some of my best photos in inclement weather. Consider getting out there near a lit intersection at late dusk and with your tripod and an umbrella, get some wet street shots with lights reflecting the wet pavement or people getting home in the rain, etc. Can be some cool stuff. Good luck and show us your images!

Wet evening on Market Street, San Francisco

35mmdelux
Richard, Thank you for sharing this great picture of my hometown. I remember walking down Market so many times as a kid. It was always cold. Remember the Fox Theatre? My mom and dad used to take a lot of pictures on Market St as well as Union Square and Golden Gate Park, of course. I grew up on 18th St. several blocks north of Castro. Douglas Elementary School, where we attended, was re-named in honor of my friend Harvey Milk who was assasinated in the infamous "Twinky Defense" case. 35mmdelux
Michael, If you can't stop buying TLR's wait until you get hooked up with Hasselblads and Leicas. Wow. I'm running on Fuji NPS 160 on the Leica and Fuji NPS 400 in the 'blad. In daylight I used alot of 64 Kodachrome but have moved on to negs for time being. In BW I waffle between Kodak 125 and Tri-X. I also like the Ilfo versions of these. Enjoy.
markplawchan
Yes, a typical case of "TLR Acquisition Syndrome"...the primary symptom is, once you purchase a TLR for yourself--you need to acquire everyone elses also... (I suffered from this all too common malady--(2 Rolleiflexes, 2 Yashicamats and 1 Ikoflex later, I formed "TLR Anonymous". To join, merely send ALL the TLR's you own to me.....) dean_williams
Michael, you can't go wrong with Tri-X. I know you got your Foma from JandC. They also have Efke 100, which is a really nice film. Their CHM films are Ilford rebrands and are great. One of my favorites is their Classic Pan 200. It's a little curly, but I like what I get from it enough that the curl doesn't matter to me. I've used my Yashicas in all kinds of weather. This time of year, I hang it around my neck and put my coat on over it. When I see something I want to shoot, I bend over a little, un-zip my coat, take my shot and re-zip. You may look funny, but hey, you're making art, right? mharris
Thanks everyone, and thanks to Dean for making my bank balance lighter :) I'm going to order some different kinds of film today and just go out and mess around.

king_fung1
Buy a Chinese Seagull TLR and you'll be recovered at once from the buying TLR illness, I guarantee it.

mharris
I've never seen a Seagull but from what I've read I'll think I'll stick with Dean and his Yashicas. Since the weather has been bad I dug out some old negatives from my 35mm days and scanned them, hope this works http://www.classicpens.net/images/La.jpg
paul_neuthaler
I found the "TLR of my dreams" three weeks ago: a Rollei 2.8F "Whiteface" Type IV (serial 29XXXXXXX) made, I think in app. 1974-76, with Xenotar lens in Mint condition. It's fabulous! Bought a gorgeous case, Rolleinar 2, Red filter, B&W MRC UV/Haze, a Rolleifix -- and I am a happy camper.
j._mose
I like TLRs too and found my dream TLR last year. Now is that really a TLR???? Sort of....It actually is a converted TLR - a Linhof Technika-Flex. I combed the earth to find one and finally did. The problem is it is it is quite rare so I don't really use it. In the next few years I hope to obtain a Contaflex TLR as well. In the meantime I do enjoy my Rolleiflex on occasion. Michael...I hope you enjoy your new baby and take some great photos with it. I LOVE THE SHOT of San Francisco!
35mmdelux
add your Hassie SWC and a few Leicas. Great collection. My budget is a little tighter so I'm making due a couple Hasselblads and my M6TTL .85. But do you own an Omega D5? I do :-)
