frederick_muller
Two neat lil' ponies. On the left the "Ultimate Leicanon". Canon Model 7 and 50mm Type 1 Rigid Summicron. On the right a workhorse ... Bessa R2 and 50mm Type 1 Rigid Summicron.<div></div>
Tony Rowlett
All cool, of course, but I'd sure rather see pictures made from them, than them themsevles... Backups? We don’t need no stinking ba #.’ _ , J
frederick_muller
I've posted lots of shots taken with the Bessa R2 and the Summicron. My shots of the Pont Alexandre in Paris on a rainy night, and the Invalides were done with the Canon Model 7 and the Summicron kit on the left. frederick_muller
A number of these shots at the Tower of London were done with the Bessa R2 kit on the right. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00DjU8

frederick_muller
I guess now and then shooters have to indulge in a little eye candy :-)
tony_senzaorbi
Fred: that type-1 rigid in screwmount for the Canon is kind of a rare and pricey collector's item, is it not? I guess the people who harp on cameras as being just tools would like to see the Smithsonian dismantled too? After all it's just a collection of items that aren't being used for what they were designed to originally.
frederick_muller
Yeah, except I take it out shooting, and it's a joy to use. Truth is, if you kept it under glass, it'd probably grow fungus and die. A lot of the time, it sits on a Bessa R and takes lots of nice pics. frederick_muller
Like the Mint M4 you pick up that hasn't been fired for 35 years and a shutter that's all gummed up.

paul_neuthaler
It's all about the lenses IMHO: the camera either works or doesn't (the viewfinder may be an issue, however!).
joseph_barbano
What camera straps are they?
jim_mcbride
Ah, Paris...just as I remember it. Thank you for posting them, Frederick.

jack_lo_..._t_o
Frederick; I clicked on all your links and am at this point exhausted from my virtual visit to Notre Dame, Ste Chapelle, and the Tower of London which I have just taken through your wonderful pictures. I don't know where I was in October when you made those threads. Grateful for the second chance. Also Trevor Hare's participation was crucial. I clicked on his links and expanded my understanding of that period in English history, having just recently read Simon Schama's three books. He's quite right that the old kings of England put the Mafia and Latin American dictators to shame(thoughI was surprised to read his sour opinions on the royal family). Anyway you (and he) are a treasure to this forum, and your old and new precision instruments are a pleasure to look at.
joseph_barbano
I think they're Voightlander straps. B&H carries them for about $40.
frederick_muller
Voigtlander deluxe black camera straps available from Cameraquest. I particularly like them for the leather inserts that protect the body from the O-rings. Otherwise, no metal parts.
vic_.
Domke 1 inch straps (without swivel or quick release) are just as good and for one third the price. At B&H. Comes in many colors.
