christopher perez
Is there anyone here from Karnataka state in India who can help answer a question for me? I have heard that to use a tripod for photography at certain locations that I need to contact the Department of Archeology to apply for a permit. However, when I look at the list of deparments, secretaries, and ministers for this state, I cannot find such a department. So the question is: Whom do I contact for a permit to use a tripod when I visit Karnataka locales that require such a permit? Thanks for any and all direction/comments/suggestions. ramana_murthy
It may be too late to answer, just adding this for record, in case some one searches for this info in future. Recently I had been to Several places in Tamilnadu. Before leaving I sent an email to ASI Delhi asking for the procedure for Tripod permit. They told me to contact Chennai office. It has to be applied either by post or in person. I could not find a way to apply online. I requested my MIL in Chennai to go and submit the application form. I faxed her the form and she applied for it. They sent the approval in 2 weeks. In Mamallapuram and some places in Chennai when the gaurds object, I just used to show them this letter and they never bothered me after seeing the approval.
