david_cunningham2
Does anyone happen to know what size push-on lens cap will fit the M 50/2.8 lens hood (part #12549)?
Thanks in advance.
jay_.
For the current 50 Elmarit? Any of the metal push-on caps for the E39 Leitz lenses will fit. The lens comes with an aluminum cap which I'm sure can be purchased as a replacement from Leica parts dept.
andrew n.bra hrefhttp
Or alternatively you can use any 42mm diameter plastic lens cap .
A few weeks ago I went to a binoculars store and went through their spares bin and picked out a couple of the strongest ones they had - cost me $1 each! At that rate you can buy scores of them and still come in cheaper than the original article (and you won't have heart attacks over scratching or losing them). john_collier5
Measure the diameter carefully and go to B&H's website and check there first. After that try your local hardware store for an ABS pipe end cap that is close in size. Line the inside with tape and voila!
Cheers,
john_collier5
You do want a cap for the hood right?
david_cunningham2
Yes John, I'm looking for a cap for the hood. I know that a 40mm push- on cap fits perfectly on a E39 filter, but the 12549 and 12550 hood has a raised "knurled" ring that makes it larger than the 40mm smooth filter.
Thanks
