icephoto
For once, my timing was outstanding... Two weeks ago I sold my Kodak 8500 Dye Sub. Beautiful printer that worked great for me and I never had a single problem in almost 2 years of use. But I'm headed for Europe for a few years and power wise it's just not going to work. So I sold it at a loss to a fellow 10D toting friend. I got a call tonight from her tonight. She had a paper jam. She cleared the jam, but now it will print only yellow, and then stops saying that printer is not responding. Have any of you run into this problem? Ed_Ingold
It's printing something (if only yellow), so the problem is probably related to the paper jam. Make sure there aren't any scraps of paper left over after clearing the jam. Make sure the roll carrier is seated correctly. Is the foil straight and smooth? If not take up the tension using the feed roll. If so, then is the roll poised on the clear or yellow section? If not, wind the foil until the next clear section appears (the printer will take care of registration from this point.
dave_mueller
Tell her to reload the driver. We use one at the office, one day the prints were almost all black, so I cleaned the entire unit, expecting something that was causing the ribbon to stick to the paper. Reloading the driver on the PC solved the problem. I can't think of anything mechanical inside the printer that would cause it to skip the cyan and magenta layers, since the printer would have to wind the ribbon all the way past them (unless it's ejecting the paper after only the first pass). If I remember, the yellow layer prints first.
