chris_at_vividoptic.com
Which small Pentax *ist dSLR would you recommend to hold onto my 40/2.8 pancake while I take photos? Settings. Av, Spot meter, centre point AF, single frame, RAW. All other options may as well be deleted. Which is the best bang for the buck in the smallest package. zane1664879013
They all have the basic functions you mention. All you can do is make a comparison chart and decide whether the additional features of the D or DS2 are worth the additional cost over the DL. It doesn't seem like you want or need anything beyond the DL.
fred_mueggelhopper
In light of the recent price reduction on the istDL, that would be the one. $599 for the body and the kit lens seems like a great deal. Now if they would just include the 77 Limited at that price....
alan_gage
Which version of the pancake lens do you have? If it's the older M version you can forget most of the options you mentioned (like spot meter, AV, etc...); but since you mentioned AF as well I'll assume it's the new DA version. I guess it depends how much you want to spend. I think I'd go for the DS2 over the DL. I've never used either though (I have a DS with the 40/f2.8) Alan
chris_at_vividoptic.com
I don't have the pancake lens yet. It will be the "Pentax 40" the new AF limited edition one. Have decided after my hands-on with the DL in store that I will get this combo: *istDL and 40/2.8 in Mar/Apr-
