brambor
Yesterdays Halloween at Peaks Island, Maine. My first stab at Fuji Neopan 1600. I like the film a lot.

gsmith
Rene, I like the mood/feel of these a lot. Some might say too much contrast, I think it works for the subject and time of day (night). How were they scanned? Thanks...
brambor
Thanks. I have an old Minolta Dualscan. It isn't perfect but it gets the job done.

johnny massey
Rene, loads of black areas but extensive blown highlights - more exposure, less development?
brambor
Thanks John. Maybe. Lots of light sources out of darkness. Tough exposure. Also what I did with it in photoshop on my screen. The developed negative was nearly perfect, judging from the numbers on the side of the strip. It works for me well enough, but point well taken. johnny massey
Point also taken, I love it in low contrast situations (at 1600) . . .

johnny massey
and have messed up big style otherwise . . .

r s
Rene, your first photo in yout 11:47 posting is excellent.
I'd be tempted to crop out or burn the scream sign a bit as it pulls the eye up quite a bit. Very nice.
Fuji B&W films (Acros and Neopan 400/1600) are great films.
brambor
Thanks I will try the Fuji 1600 in shooting ice hockey. Maybe this weekend. Hockey is the only part of my shooting where I use digital exclusively for action shots, mostly because I don't use a flash but the results of Neopan 1600 are encouraging to give it a try. I wish I had some 1600 on hand, but I have been trying to stick to one film/ one developer as an attempt to gain familiarity and confidence with my exposure and developing routine.

belledeux diana
What exactly did you do in PhotoShop? Could you post a photo...say 10:41 or 10:47 without the PhotoShop? I love these photos. Everything about them. There's something about these photos that give the feeling of passing through the lens.....that the lens reached out and grabbed the images in spite of lighting. Etraordinary! brambor
thanks Belle. Not much really. Adjusted brightness a little to bring out enough range from the shadows. It has in turn burned some of the highlights but I'm a sucker for burned out highlight if they pertain to light sources. I kind of like it so I didn't bother to separate regions of the shot. When I get home tonight I'll load the original scan and post it here.
brambor
Hi Belle. belledeux diana
Just beautiful. Thank you. I am going to try Fuji Neopan 1600 with my Canon AE-1 in a couple of weeks for a Christmas festival. I was dreading it in a way,--it's become so boring and routine. I think these Halloween photos will have me viewing the Christmas festival in a whole new light...pun intended!
