john_sarsgard1
I'm using Photoshop CS with Mac OS x 10.4.3 Tiger. The patch tool doesn't work, and Adobe says there are lots of tool problems with Tiger. No idea of a fix or what to do for a workaround. Anybody else have this experience, and any idea of what to do next? thanks.
roger hein
I use PSCS and OSX 10.4.3 - the only glitch I've encountered is sometimes when quitting the app it 'crashes' - very strange, otherwise it's been problem free. Other than a re-install I'm not sure what to suggest.
william_john_smith
I have the same setup as you but never have trouble with any tools that I use. I scan film so the patch tool is used daily without a hitch. i assume you have tried the usual fixes, persmissions, Disk Warrior, dump preferences and even so far as a clean reinstall? Strange. john_markanich
The Patch tool may not be working exactly as you anticipate. I suggest you read the pertinent sections in Martin Evening's book ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS2 FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS for a thorough explanation or Scott Kelby's THE PHOTOSHOP BOOK for simpler step-by-step examples. In the mean time make sure you're working on a background copy (not a layer).
john_sarsgard1
Thanks to all for the input. I continue to try to figure out what else might be different since patch worked for me. I think I'm on to something....it works fine on old scanned images, but not with digital camera images! Does this give anyone a clue? Thanks again. john_markanich
Ref: "it works fine on old scanned images, but not with digital camera images! Does this give anyone a clue?" Are the digital camera images RAW or JPEG (or other)? Do you get a request to convert to "Adobe1998" (or some other PS compatible file)? If so. Do so. john_sarsgard1
I think the universe is random. The portraits I did Monday night won't work with patch tool. The landscapes I did Tuesday with the same camera work with patch tool. Both are sRGB jpgs. Working on background layer in both cases. I think I will spend a few hours in the wet darkroom working on my B&W work where I know what I am doing! Or at least what the equipment and materials are doing. Thanks again. john_markanich
Three trays and a lightbulb. That's all Weston ever used.
