j_sevigny
A while back, someone posted a message explaining how to improve the yellow patch in the viewfinder on an Olympus XA with a magic marker. Anyone recall such a thing or am I hallucinating again? Thanks
michaelging
J, I remember the post and tried to find it without any luck. I believe it was to put a yellow or orange highlighter on one of the windows . It also said you could cut a piece of yellow or orange gel and do the same thing. You still may be hallucinating ,I would get that check out.:)
h._p.
It used to be a pretty common practice to put a piece of yellow or orange filter material over the rangefinder window to increase the contrast against the main viewfinder image. People on a budget used a piece of toffee wrapping paper, which had the added advantage that you'd have to sample several toffees in order to find a suitable piece! I'd be loath to do anything as drastic as using a pen on the glass in case you over did it and ended up with a bright yellow opaque patch in the centre of your viewfinder. ben conover
Very interesting, I will go and try the toffee wrappers with my Fuji now.
jack_lo_..._t_o
I think Rick Oleson was the source. You find an eraseable black marker, look thru the viewfinder and put a black mark over the rangefinder spot. It works.
