leo_cavanha
Hello ALL I have a FA Nikon for my all-around use, and I'm planning to bring herunderwater, now that I'm starting to dive. So far I didn't find anyunderwater housings for her, only for some newer models. It shoudresist to deeper waters (20-30m minimum) and preferably allow the useof flash. thanks for your help!! wbowman
I'm not an expert on underwater photography, but I do know that housings for any camera can run in the hundreds of dollars. The FA in particular would seem to present two problems. One is that is has been out of production for a very long time and it is unlikely that any current manufacturer is going to support it. Two is that the eye releif for all of the Nikon Fx (FM, FE, FA, etc.) is not that great. You'd need to rig up some sort of additional viewfinder mechanism to see anything with SCUBA gear on. Additionally, you'll want a flash at that depth and getting an underwater strobe unit hooked up to that FA will almost certainly be problematic. II would suggest looking at a used Nikonos (if you want to keep it in the Nikon family) or a mid-range digicam with a housing (Canon has several). voets
for digital camera's there's http://www.digideep.com/ an extensive database of all housings for all (digital) cams. Ikelite can build a custom housing for you (see http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/slrnikon.html) if the FA won't fit in one of the existing housings. leo_cavanha
Thanks, guys, sorry for the late answer but I've been very busy at work. I will probably go with the Nikonos, when I have the opportunity. My first idea was a housing for the Hasselblad, but wow thats rare and expensive. in a couple of months i will post some photos from underwater!
