john_wallace2
I purchased a new Canon 20D about 8 months ago. Yesterday while doing some field work I began having problems with the LED and the readings in the view finder. When I turned the camera on all of the items in both the view finder and the LED lit up. I could not read any of the camera settings, everything was visible. My question is, Is this an indication of problems to come. Has any one else experienced the same problems. I have been given the standard 4 to 6 weeks for repair and I wondering if this is going to be a reocurring problem. I have searched the web and can't find any information related to this problem. thomas_sullivan
There's an old saying in electronics........when in doubt, completely remove power and start all over. Take your battery out, perhaps even recharge it, and put it back in. May not fix it, but I'd do that Looooooooooooong before I sent it out for repair. bobatkins
How cold was it? LCDs can do funny things if it gets very cold. Once warmed up they're fine again. If it was -20C outside I wouldn't be surprised to see the LCD act up. If it was above freezing and the LCD acted up, I'd suspect a possible camera problem. Marvin
In the middle of a shooting session my 20D suddenly stopped functioning. I turned it off and on - no help. I took out the compact flash card - no help. I took out the battery and put it back - bingo!. I has worked fine ever since.
